Kungpao Chicken Kungpao Chicken (also called Gongpo Chicken) belongs to Sichuan Cuisine. In Qing Dynasty, a government officer whose name was Ding Baozheng often asked his kitchener to stir-fry chicken, peanut and pepper together for dinner. After several years, he found his kitchener became very good at cooking the dish, so he began to ask his friends to taste the dish. Almost every one of his friends said it is delicious. Finally, they named the dish Kungpao Chicken, which meant a way to cook chicken invented by a government officer.

Main ingredients to cook Kungpao Chicken include chicken, peanuts, pepper and vegetables. In western countries, people may also add shrimps into the dish.
